A practicing Registered Music Therapist for 44 years, Susan specializes in teaching piano, guitar and violin to special needs students, or engaging them in music therapy activities, through the Rancer Method. The method was developed by Susan, who failed, like so many others, at reading music, yet she was a musical prodigy who could pick up any tune by ear and play it with 2 hands instantly. By modifying the classical traditional way of learning an instrument, Susan teaches children and adults how to play using written scores.
Mainly Mozart
Mainly Mozart brings together world-class musicians for both classical and innovative musical programs. Through its youth orchestra, they preserve the appreciation of classical music by giving young musicians the opportunity to learn and perform together.

Dr. Lamis Jabri, our Head of School, volunteered for Mainly Mozart and The Art of Autism, two local nonprofit organizations based in San Diego. The pinnacle of their collaboration was a 3-day Symposium, Art Exhibit and Concert, showcasing the power of investing in what you can do, rather than merely "working on" what you cannot (yet) do.

Presenters included neurodivergent professionals in various fields (psychology, science, art, music, education, and more), speaking and non-speaking, communicating with assistive devices, with and without other neurological conditions, and professionals who work intimately with neurodivergent people.
